Your Pet’s First Appointment

Ideally, puppies should have their first visit with the vet around 6 weeks of age, and kittens around 8 weeks.

During this initial visit, a veterinarian will provide a thorough physical examination to assess your pet's overall health, check for signs of any congenital defects, and look for external parasites.

More About Physical Exams

The first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations and deworming medications for hookworms and roundworms will also be administered.

Finally, for kittens, we will conduct a blood test to check for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.

Follow-up Appointments

Between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks, puppies and kittens should attend 3 to 4 veterinary appointments. These visits allow our vets to assess your pet's overall health and to administer vaccines on schedule.
